Take a family vacation on the Volcanic Legacy Byway. You'll find an array of activities for kids and families to enjoy together!

Please follow the links below to discover information on adventures with kids along the Volcanic Legacy Byway.

  • Visitors ages 6-12 are invited to participate in the Junior Ranger Programs that are offered daily at 5 pm at the Mazama Campground Amphitheater at Crater Lake National Park from late June through Labor Day.


  • Kids and adults alike will enjoy 10 Things to Do at Lava Beds National Monument. From 1. Start at the Visitor Center to 10. Join a Ranger, this simple list will enrich your visit.


  • Lots of adventures for kids in the northern California region of Siskiyou County. From family mountain biking to horseback riding, gold panning to river rafting, check out the adventures highlighted on the Children and Families page from the Siskiyou County Visitors' Bureau.


  • Are you ready to enter the wild and weird world of volcanoes? If you think you can take the heat, then you are ready to join the Lassen Volcano Club! See all the great kids' pages at the Lassen Volcanic National Park web site.
